Jim Where I was - NJ Th, Dec 26, 02
My story has no importance of any sort but I figure I will tell it since this is what this site is about. Living about 30 miles from NYC I was on my way to work which is about 5o miles from New York. I turned on the Radio and started to listen to Howard Stern like I do every morning for the 45 minute commute. Then Howard breaks in and says that one of the World Trade Center towers is gone. Coming from Howard first thing I said to myslef, "what kind of sick prank is he pulling now", but a few seconds later he was genuinly serious so I turned on 1010 to see ok what is happening. As I turned it on I heard the older announcer make the announcement of what had happened. "two planes have colidded into the the World trade towers, now both towers have collapsed to the ground". I didnt know what to think, I almost ran off the road. My first naive questions to myself were how did this happen, how did two planes hit the towers and how did traffic controllers mix this up and makes such a mistake? Then I finally realized that this was no accident but hijacked airliners. From a hill I could see the distant cloud from the disaster. Simply something I will never forget.

well, I was with my friends in tea room talking about sense of life and world peace as we usually do and sudently my cell beeped. I hade sms "America was attacked, go straight home". I started laughting thinking it's one of my sisters ww3 jokes. But I really left and all the way home (about 1 hour ) I really didnt know what's going on... only the people seemed so strange.
Then I came home started yelling at my sis and she just took me to living room where our tv is.
"wha ???" I asked when I saw Twin Towers in fire. It was just unbelievable.
Then I cryed... really strongly. I went to my room and prayed for peace. I sang mantra of peace hoping that everything will be OK>
I was being prety cynic about it after few weeks... but it still hurts. It hurts bad....

I Was At School - Melbourne, Australia Th, Dec 12, 02
I was at school when i first heard about the attack on america. I heard some people at school talk about the attack on america. When I came home I saw on the TV the attacks on the towers and it horrified me. Who would do such a thing like that and put innocent people in danger. I think that day on Tuesday 11 September 2001 scared everyone in a way. I just pray that there will be world peace one day

I work for an Oil company, on the Construction sites. That morning, I went to work, my husband called and said that a plane flew into the WTC, at first I laughed, and said 'your crazy', when I hung up the phone I told my co-workers. Nobody really said much. I mean we all felt horrible for the US but it didn't really hit home. It was like we were all in a daze. The guys were checking on projects, and so could listen to the radio, when the second plane hit, one of the guys came in and said 'no it's real' a second hit the WTC, then the next one etc. We were all stunned, and very scared. We didn't have access to a t.v, the radio was all we had, and we were in a bad area, so it was hard to make out what was going on. Our head office called and said they had evacuated one of the sites up North, and were getting ready to evacuate head office. I kept thinking 'what about us?' we were working on a huge site, that would have been extremely easy access for someone to attack. It was a horrible day. Ever since we have worked on secure locations. We always have security on site, and the sites are locked down. That afternoon, I went to the Mayor of my small town and requested that we fly the American flag at half mast. They did so, and left it that way for several months. My heart goes out to all the victims of 9-11 and America in general. What a tragic thing to have happened.I will never forget 9-11 as long as I live and I take my hat off to President George W Bush.

I was at school waiting for the morning anncoumets t come on when it happened. I had no idea what the Twin Towers were. But I do now, the thing that mostly scared me is that my gramndmother was visiting N (She lives in PA) so I was really worried about her. I was suposed to go to New York that very year. But, as luck would have it our plans were cancled. That day I went home and talked to my mom about it. Then, later that night I thought about how luckey my family and i were to be for away from it, and unluckly the families were who lost someone. I shall never forget the day I leanred what the Twin Towers were, Sept. 11, 2002

Nicole WTC Fright - ny F, Nov 22, 02
I just got back from P.E on September 11. When our teacher said to come over and sit down by her. I was scared that something bad happend, but I didn't know that something as bad as the WTC had been hit by planes. Carlene and I were shocked by the terrifing news. When I got home my Mom and Dad were watching tv. Every chanle that they put it on, was covered by the news. It was much worse than the teacher explaned. The teacher had totally lied to us! She said it wasn't bad at all. My uncle went on a trip that day and I was worried that he was on the plane, But thank God that he wasn't. That day affected everyones life, and it will always be a big part in histoy!

Amelie* The day the World changed, I changed - Australia Th, Nov 21, 02
When I woke in Australia and saw the south tower collapse with exhaustion, I knew nothing would ever be the same the world would never be the same it wasn't the world I had woken up in, the day before. I prayed with such a intensity to the Gods of hope and goodness I cried, I cried for the souls of the innocent, I so desperately wanted to be free, may the souls of the innocent always be free.

Megz Canadian Pain - Edmonton, Alberta S, Nov 3, 02
First off, let me say Iam a Canadian citizen. On the morning of 9/11, I had gotten up late, as a result of a very tiring volleyuball practice the night before. I was in a rush to get to school, because it was the day we would be planning the first part of our 2002 Graduation ceremonies. My younger brother and my mom were watching television, and kept trying to tell me about it. But, being an 18 yr old female in a rush for school, i wasnt listening. My brother turned on the radio in my car to an AM station, and thats when it all really clued into my as to what was happening. I was scared. I phoned my Mom as soon as I got to school. My Dad is a procurment manager for an oil rig, that is based in Kazahkstan. He was flying home the morning of Sept.11. We were not sent home from school, but we were taken into the gym to have a mass. Our principal ran us through morning prayer and announcment and then we turned on the big screen in the gym. I was shocked. I left the gym in tears, and was forced to tell my teaher my Dad was on his way home that day. I lfet the school and headed straight to my best friends house. She was home, and we sat and watched the news, as I held my cell phone tightly waiting for My Mom to phone back. My Dad was held back in Kazakhstan, he was alright. The next call i needed to make was to my boyfriend. He had graduated 2 years before me, and was already at work. All i heard about all day was about the brave fire-fighters, and i just wanted to go and be with my own brave fire-fighter. He had seen the news already, and it was hitting him hard. I kept thinking , iam so happy your based in Canada. That day hit many Canadians as hard as hit Americans. Canada had America in its prayers, and off went our army as back-up.I have long since graduated high-school and moved on with my life, but 9/11 will reamin one the scariest days of my life. May god bless America, along with Canada. I also want to say thank you to those fire-fighters. i know now, being the long-time girlfriend of one, that you have amazing spirit and dedication. May god watch over us all. Now and Forever.
