peggy in school - Brooklyn Th, Sep 12, 02
I was I school that day and it was almost science class. Then I heard a loud booming sound, and I thought it was a gun sound. Then when it was a half of science, my teacher ran in the door and said that I need to go home, then i ask why, she said something bad happen to the world trade center, and I look out the window and saw smoke. Then I went home and open the television and saw bad things happen to the twin tower, it calpes and a lot of people die, i feel very sad for the people that die in twin tower. I started to cry when I saw it.

I was in my 4th period class when there was a knock at the door. A teacher told us to turn on our t.v. to a news channel. Then to our a masement was the south tower was covered in smoke and flames.no one could speak I was in total shock. Then the north tower was hit and we did'nt no what to do ,but watch and feel totaly unsafe. My feelings remain scared, shocked, and alone. I went home that day and saw it all again. And i knew that the president would explain it all to us and make it right. And he did.

when i heard the news i was in math class. my teacher had went to the computer to look for skiing pictures when he got a message from a friend telling him that a plane had crashed into the side of one of the wtc towers. my teacher stood up his face was pale, and he finally said to the hwole class in a half wisper that a plane had crashed in the wtc tower. the he walked out of the room and came back in and turned the tv on we all just sat there staring at the screen in disbelief when all of the sudden the other tower was hit! the bell rang and we a went to our next class which for me was english lit. the tv was already on but turned down we all sat down and our teacher started to teach and about 10 - 15 minutes later someone had looked at the tv and saw that a plane had crashed into the pentagon so she stoped teaching and we watched tv the rest of the time! thats how it was in all my classes and the only sound in the school was the sounds of the tv!

I am French and I live in Paris. My story isn't very interesting, but I really wanted to tell evrybody that France supports america, more than ever. On 9/11, I came back from school at 5 pm, and when I got home, the door was opened. My mother and my brother were watching TV, , and I remember being surprised because they didn't seem to care I was back. Then they saw me and my mother told me: "Manhattan is on fire". I didn't know what it meant, and I looked at the TV. It was incredible, and horrible. I thinked about all those people, stuck in the buildings. Then I saw the images of people moving a white handerchief from the top stories, and it made me cry. Those people were bound to die, what could they do?
My sister was in new york state last year, she worked for a chemical (?) company for 8 months. (fortunately she wasn't in Manhattan on 09/11) My brother was supposed to go and visit her, and also to go sightseeing in NY. He was supposed to fly there on september 12th....
I also went to NY to visit my sister( it was in ocober, so a month after the attacks), and I spent a week in NY. The atmosphere was very special, and I found great the way the american people reacted. Your patriotism is an exemple for all the nations; I love the usa and I 've been there many times, and have a great respect for the american people and culture. FRANCE SUPPORTS AMERICA!!!!!! this atack was not only made against the usa, in fact it was against all the free nations.
WE WILL NEVER FORGET.

Rob Lamdin School days to remember - Bournemouth, England W, Sep 11, 02
There was a small group of us at school, we had just finished our lesson after lunch and were playing pool in our common room during a free period, the last of the day. We had the radio on and were listening to music. NEWSFLASH. One of the twin towers has been hit by an airplane. We immediately turned on the TV to watch CNN. We saw the second plane hit and the towers fall. No one knew what to do, we were in shock. That room has never been so quiet with a group of 17 year olds in it. By the time the whole story had been uncovered school had ended, as we had the only tv we had the uneviable task of informing our class mates of the atrosites. No one believed us, they couldn't it was like somehing out of a film. It may not be very interesting but it's my story I felt I should tell it. It helps.

This girl walked into my second period class, saying that someone crashed a plane into the world trade center. I didn't believe her. I was too busy writing a note to steph, that i didn't think it was real. The PA system came on, saying that the WTC was under terrorist attacks, and everyone just got shooken up and chills ran down my spine. We moved into one of the physical science rooms, and just as they turned the tv on, we saw the second plane hit. I was just full of pure anger when I saw the plane slice the building's top floors in half.

Hatred should stop!! - NJ, USA W, Sep 11, 02
I remember today, a year ago,. . .when I first received the news. . .I was sitting in Music Class . . .discussing the vocal trip that we have every year to compete. . .my friend and I were hoping it was to NYC. . .b/c we love NYC and want to go there live there when we graduate . . Anyway, not even 2 minutes later, our principal is on the intercom. . “I am sorry to interrupt, but we have just received news that the World Trade Center in NYC was hit, we are not sure by what or if this is in fact a terrorist act, we well have more details shortly” My hear sank into my stomach . . .everyone was confused and crying . . .i heard commotion in the halls of hysterical students, people running to the office, or pulling out cell phones. No one knew what to say or do . . .throughout the day . . .they played news casts over the intercom and had TVs set up throughout school . . .counselors were available to talk. . And most people went home. . but our school did not dismiss us. . Even when there were bomb scares they let us leave . . .I did not understand . . .Peoples families were probably being ripped apart at the moment and they wouldn’t let us leave. . .students were scattered . . .watching the news casts and some where hysterical to the point that they were on the floor. . .we protested and they did not listen!!!. . We felt helpless . . .and trapped somewhere when we wanted to be with our families . . .This was a major event that was unfolding as we sat trapped in school. .. When I finally got home . . .news casts played the tragedy over and over to the point that I couldn’t bare to watch anymore . . .more the 3,000 people lost there lives that day . . . there lives ripped from them. . And they didn’t even live them yet. . Children were left orphans . . .and as I sit here writing my experience. . Anger builds up. . .WHY COULD HATE RISE TO THE POINT OF DISTUCTUION. . to end innocent peoples lives . . to make someone feel strong or get a point across. . to me . . .war . . is pointless. . if the world could just think and respect other people . . .this world would be peaceful . . .it as if people never grew up. . Pointless fights about difference in opinion, color, race, or whatnot. . .its like if you are watching 2 little boys fighting over a toy, with no mother to intervene,. . .what will happen?. . they will call each other names . . .scream . . .and then one will physical attack the other . . .and then we have hitting back a forth. . .THEY BOTH ARE TO BLAME!. . . I love the U.S. . But in a way . . we do bring it on ourselves. . we also bomb or attack other countries . . innocent people are killed as well . . .their families and friend are killed 2. . .and they probably ask the same question WHY US? . . .WHY OUR CONRTY?. . occurrences that murder innocent lives in 3rd world countries happen almost everyday. . think about if something like 9/11 happened 2 us everyday. . .it’s a big vicious cycle that needs to be stopped. . .but. . .it probably won’t . . . as a U.S citizen . . .I LOVE MY CONTRY. . .i would not want to live anywhere else. . we have freedom and choice. . I pray for the millions of families that were broken and the friends that were lost. . .or for who ever is hurting in anyway shape or form. . I love everyone . . .I do not have hate in my heart . . .i pray for anyone who risked their life that day and for all the heroes that died saving another . . .I pray for the the USA and everyone that lives here . . .I pray that everyone will stop hating and start realizing that hate will not get us anywhere . . .”GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! I love you all ”

I was on my way to school when the attacks happened and sitting in my first period class when the towers fell. None of us really knew it was 8:00 our time and classes had all started. An annoucement came over the PA telling us. Some poeple started to cry and one guy had family in NYC and he ran from the room. I just sat there in shock. I guess even now I really can't believe that it happened.

I was sitting in class and a friend who arrived late told us about what happened. At first I started to get angry, I started saying things like "We'll kill those b******s, etc..." but when two teachers came in to tell us that the towers collapsed, I burst into tears that wouldn't subside for another 2 hours

Memmy Disbelief and Sorrow - Kentucky T, Sep 10, 02
I was sitting at my desk working when I first heard of the news. I didn't believe it. I thought it was an awlful story some co-workers came up with to tell... (or at least miscontrued information). The news was real. More and more things kept happening. Accidents? No, terroist attacks! As I watched television, I was just sick to my stomach. How could this happen? Why? How could people do this to other people? It just made me feel so helpless. My thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been hurt by this tragedy.
*************************************************
It is best to show your love to your family and friends while you can and have the opportunity. Let them know you love and appreciate them. One never knows when something is going to happen. It is a good idea to be prepared. Gilbert K. Chesterton once said "The way to love anything is to realize that it might be lost". Even though I have a hard time verbalizing my feelings, I realize the urgency and importance of this more now than ever.

Hitting Home - Basking Ridge, NJ T, Sep 10, 02
The second week of my sophomore year in high school, i sat in 3rd period, half asleep. In the middle of class, our prinicipal came on the PA, annoucing that our country had suffered a terrible attack -- The World Trade Centers had been struck by hijacked airplanes. Immediately my hand covered my mouth and i was in complete shock -- I had no idea how to react to such a tragedy. As soon as he ended the announcement, names were being called down to the main office -- people who had parents working in the World Trade Centers. Every time I heard him start talking, I held my breath, hoping that the family memebers of whoever he was calling down were safe.

It wasn't until 7th period lunch that i had the opportunity to call home and talk to my mom -- that's when she told me that the towers had collapsed. I shared the horrific news with my friends and tears formed in everyone's eyes. Names were called down constantly throughout the day and the main office was filled with people trying to get in touch with parents, aunts, uncles, family friends...

That night I went to a church in town, for support and comforting. There we brought together what we knew and realized that there were several people from our town missing. Three people that I knew that were my age were missing parents, as well as my neighbor. In the end, 18 people from small suburban Basking Ridge died that day.

To this day, I still cry when I think about 9/11. Never has a single event caused me so much pain.

Yea I had a great dream then I woke up, its around 1030am Mountain Time and my dad tells me the WTC are burned down, and I burst out laughing then I see the TV and damn it was for real. I didn't know what to think, so I watched CNN all afternoon and I thought about all the immigrants working the kitchen and janitorial staffs, and realized Mohammed Atta attacked Mexicans and that's when I felt a bit angry. However, all the solidarity of human kind and when I got to work at the Airport, a great calm came over me. I loved that the skies were quiet and people were helping each other, I really enjoyed it, but then the damn economy brought down my high, as with slow travel, I was eventually laid off, finding a job hasnt been too easy since, 9-11 changed sh**. But I guess we're all to blame for our predictments.
